Premier Gladys Berejiklian has joined thousands of fans at this year’s Tamworth Country Music Festival and awarded a prestigious Golden Guitar for the Country Music Album of the Year.

The 2018 Tamworth Country Music Festival is expected to attract more than 13,000 overnight visitors to NSW and contribute a whopping $14 million to the local economy.

Ms Berejiklian and Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson were delighted to demonstrate the NSW Government’s strong support for the world-famous event, now in its 46th year.

“It was an absolute privilege to attend Tamworth Country Music Festival. NSW is the home of major events – whether that is in the city, bush or regional areas of our State,” Ms Berejiklian said.

“Tamworth Country Music Festival showcases the very best in global talent and has catapulted numerous Australian artists to stardom.

“Through Destination NSW, we will continue to do all we can to support these types of events. They are good for the economy, great entertainment and inspire our next generation of performers.”

The Premier’s visit included a walk through Tamworth town centre to witness many of the buskers and street performers that bring the music festival to life.

She joined Aussie Country icon John Williamson on stage at the star-studded Toyota Golden Guitar Awards on Saturday night to present the Country Music Album of the Year Award.

The award was given to The McClymonts for their ARIA Country chart-topping album, Endless.
