The NSW Government has showcased 30 of its best health, medical technology and research organisations as part of Dubai’s Arab Health and Expo 2020 Dubai program.
NSW’s health and medical technology was on display this week at Expo 2020’s Australian Pavilion, highlighting homegrown world-class innovations and promoting investment opportunities across construction, biotechnology, manufacturing and research within NSW’s health precincts.
Minister for Enterprise, Investment and Trade Stuart Ayres said the showcase event was just one of many ways the government is actively engaging with global investors to grow the state’s $92 billion pre-pandemic healthcare sector.
“With a state-of-the-art healthcare system, top research institutions and thriving medical and pharmaceutical industries, we have been demonstrating why NSW is the ideal location to develop and market new medical technologies,” Mr Ayres said.
“Thanks to the NSW Government’s investment of $10.1 billion over four years in capital health infrastructure projects, NSW’s medical technology industry is the largest in Australia.”
NSW is increasingly attracting international investment in areas such as medtech, biotechnology, clinical trials, gene and cell therapies and digital health, with 30 per cent of Australian pre-clinical and discovery research activity taking place in NSW.
Minister Ayres said another drawcard for global investment in NSW was the state’s growing health and innovation precincts.
“NSW boasts more than 10 dedicated health precincts for place-based investment with world-renowned research institutes and state-of-the-art medical facilities, supported by a comprehensive health ecosystem,” Mr Ayres said.
NSW Trade and Investment Commissioner in the Middle East Moin Anwar said NSW’s Health and MedTech event featured NSW Premier’s Exporter of the Year 2021 AirPhysio and International Health Export Award winner, TAHPI.
“Based in Dubai, TAHPI is involved in the service planning and full design of healthcare facilities for the whole Middle East region, whilst also publishing standards and guidelines for several health authorities in the region,” Mr Anwar said.
TAHPI Director, Aladin Niazmand said Expo 2020 Dubai provides the opportunity to showcase the strength and experience of the company, which originated in NSW, in bringing Australian healthcare design to the world.
“TAHPI has been involved in R&D in the healthcare service planning and software field since 2010 and we have benefited from the incentives offered by the NSW Government as well as the Australian Federal Government,” Mr Niazmand said.
Investment NSW is a major partner of the Australian Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai and has trade experts on hand to help local businesses understand the opportunities that await.
