More than 230 new probationary constables have today joined the record numbers of frontline police to help keep the community safe.
Premier Gladys Berejiklian joined Police Commissioner Michael Fuller APM and Member for Goulburn Pru Goward for the attestation parade in Goulburn this morning, where Class 333 took their oath of office.
“Our frontline police officers put their lives on the line day in and day out to protect the community. The NSW Government is proudly supporting the NSW Police Force with funding for record numbers of officers and state-of-the-art equipment,” Ms Berejiklian said.
“We wish our newest police officers well for the future as they embark on their most important and rewarding careers.”
Since 2011, the NSW Government has delivered 994 additional police officers.
The new recruits have undertaken university-level education and eight months of practical training at Goulburn Police Academy to become Probationary Constables. New officers have been assigned to Police Districts and Area Commands across the state.
Minister for Police Troy Grant said becoming a sworn police officer is a tremendous honour, “As a community, we turn to the police in our worst hour and expect them to stand in harm’s way to prevent and disrupt criminal activity.
“Today we acknowledge the extraordinary commitment and dedication of the men and women who have chosen a career in law enforcement.
“We owe each and every new recruit an enormous debt of gratitude for devoting their working lives to the safety of the people of NSW.”
