More than $1.8m for community safety projects in Robertson

An elected Dutton Coalition Government will fund two projects in Robertson from a revitalised Safer Communities Fund (SCF):
- $1,011,350 to the Regional Youth Support Service (RYSS) for the Gosford youth hub to bring the total funding for the program to $2 million following the announcement of the $988,650 grant from the Australian Government last week. The expansion will enable RYSS to extend services for young people aged 10 to 25 and deliver engagement outreach activities to Terrigal/Kincumber and Umina/Peninsula.
- Up to $800,000 for the Central Coast Council for the upgrade and operation of CCTV networks over a four year period, including enhancements to the camera network at the Coral Street multi-storey car park.
Liberal candidate for Robertson Lucy Wicks said this funding would help ensure people in the local community feel safe as they go about their daily lives.
“A Dutton Liberal Government is committed to delivering support for our youth groups and support organisations, as they play such a critical role in our community,” said Ms Wicks. “As the former Member for Robertson, I spent nine years delivering for young people in this community, and I am now campaigning for the chance to continue this vital work.”
“The RYSS is a service that our community desperately needs. It is a locally-based child and youth registered charity and not-for-profit agency which delivers frontline youth support services and innovative engagement strategies to vulnerable young people.
This funding commitment is a direct response to the concerns raised by our community. I’ve heard first-hand from Robertson residents that safety is a priority, and we’re responding with practical measures to help make public spaces safer for everyone,” Ms Wicks said.
“The CCTV upgrade and operation is an important part of tackling the rising crime on the Central Coast and will make our shops and streets more safe and secure.”
“Our community is fed up with crime. Countless locals have told me stories of break-ins which have left them afraid in their own homes,” said Ms Wicks. “Robertson deserves better and I will fight every day for the safety and security of our community.”
Shadow Minister for Home Affairs and Cyber Security, Senator James Paterson said that under a Dutton Coalition Government, Robertson community will be stronger, more secure, and better supported to tackle crime.
“Getting Australia Back on Track means keeping Australia safe – safe for families, safe for businesses, and safe for communities,” Senator Paterson said.
"Projects delivered under the Safer Communities Fund will help protect local communities by ensuring they have appropriate security infrastructure in place such as CCTV cameras, alarm systems and security lighting."
The revitalised SCF will build on the programme established by the previous Coalition Government, delivering grant funding to councils, schools, and local organisations to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour, enhance security around community spaces, and promote social cohesion.
This commitment is part of the Coalition’s plan to strengthen our local communities and get our country Back on Track.
