A Dutton Liberal Government will commit $138,900 for security upgrades at St George & Sutherland Community College in Jannali.

St George & Sutherland Community College (SGSCC) is a not-for-profit Registered Training Organisation that has delivered a broad range of subsidised and fee-for-service programs to the communities of southern Sydney since 1979.

The comprehensive security infrastructure enhancement upgrades will deliver improved CCTV surveillance and monitoring, upgraded intruder detection and alarm systems, access control and lock systems, and a holistic approach to security at the SGSCC Jannali Centre.

Federal Member for Hughes, Jenny Ware MP, said important local institutions, including community training providers like the SGSCC, need to be protected and remain safe.

“For the safety of the amazing educators, support staff and the students of all ages seeking to develop invaluable academic and practical skills, these comprehensive security upgrades at SCSCC are essential,” Mrs Ware said.

Shadow Minister for Home Affairs and Shadow Minister for Cyber Security, Senator James Paterson, said under a Dutton Liberal Government, southern Sydney will be stronger, more secure and better supported to tackle crime.

“Getting Australia back on track means keeping Australia safe – safe for families, safe for businesses, and safe for communities,” Senator Paterson said.

"Projects delivered under the Safer Communities Fund (SCF) will help protect local communities by ensuring they have appropriate security infrastructure in place such as CCTV cameras, alarm systems and security lighting."

The revitalised SCF will deliver grant funding to councils, schools, and local organisations to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour, enhance security around community spaces, and promote social cohesion.

This commitment is part of the Liberals’ plan to get Australia back on track.
