A Dutton Liberal Government has committed $200,000 for lighting upgrades at Michael Cronin Oval – home of the Gerringong Junior Lions.
The commitment will ensure the replacement of existing light poles on the southern side of the Oval and the installation of new LED light fittings on the northern side of the Oval.
Liberal candidate for Gilmore, Andrew Constance, welcomed the commitment to improve the facilities used by the players, volunteers and spectators at Michael Cronin Oval.
“The Gerringong Junior Lions are a terrific family-oriented club – attracting players and supporters from the Shoalhaven Heads up to Kiama, “Mr Constance said.
“I want to thank the club and its volunteers for the ambition it has demonstrated to increase participation among women and girls.”
“The new lights will improve player safety and encourage them to stick with the sport they love.”
Deputy Leader of the Opposition, the Hon Sussan Ley MP, joined Andrew Constance in Gerringong to make the commitment.
“I’m delighted that a Dutton Liberal Government will back the Gerringong Junior Lions with this commitment to upgrade the lighting here at Michael Cronin Oval,” said Ms Ley.
“I know Andrew has been working tirelessly behind the scenes to secure this commitment, for new LED lights, but none of this would be possible without the mums and dads who each volunteer their time to make the Gerringong Junior Lions the wonderful place that it is to play footy.”
“Andrew will be a strong voice for the South Coast in Canberra and won’t stop fighting for all of its communities.”
