An elected Dutton Liberal Government will commit $107,800 from a revitalised Safer Communities Fund (SCF) to install new lighting at Trinity Anglican College in Thurgoona.

The upgrade will see the installation of pole lighting in the front carpark of Trinity Anglican College – currently an unlit space.

Deputy Leader of the Opposition and Federal Member for Farrer, Sussan Ley, said the school’s main carpark, facing Elizabeth Mitchell Drive, is close to pitch black during the evening.

“The safety of the carpark has been a concern raised with me by the College and by parents, so I am pleased to be making this commitment,” Ms Ley said.

“This lighting upgrade will improve security around the entrance to the school – assisting students, staff, parents and visitors entering and leaving outside of school hours.”

Shadow Minister for Home Affairs and Shadow Minister for Cyber Security, Senator James Paterson, said under a Dutton Liberal Government, Thurgoona will be stronger, more secure and better supported to tackle crime.

“Getting Australia back on track means keeping Australia safe – safe for families, safe for businesses, and safe for communities,” Senator Paterson said.

The revitalised SCF will deliver grant funding to councils, schools, and local organisations to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour and enhance security around community spaces.

This commitment is part of the Liberals’ plan to get Australia back on track.
