Liberal Candidate for Eden-monaro
An elected Dutton Liberal Government will invest $7.6 million to construct a new sporting pavilion and carpark at the Carr Confoy Sportsground in Goulburn.
Jo van der Plaat, Liberal candidate for Eden-Monaro, said this commitment to upgrade the pavilion facility will primarily benefit locals, however, will also improve the ability of the precinct to attract major regional sports and community events - delivering downstream benefits for Goulburn.
“I’m thrilled that an elected Dutton Liberal Government has committed to $7.6 million to upgrade Goulburn's premier sports and recreation precinct through the construction of a purpose-built pavilion and carpark at the Carr Confoy Sportsground,” Mrs van der Plaat said.
“A number of local teams will benefit from the upgrade, including Goulburn Touch Football, Goulburn Junior Rugby Union, Goulburn & District Netball Association and Goulburn Junior Cricket Club.”
Shadow Treasurer, Angus Taylor, said the pavilion upgrade was part of the Liberals’ plan to get Australia back on track by upgrading important community infrastructure.
“Due to Jo’s diligent campaigning, it is great that we can announce a commitment of $7.6m to build a new pavilion at Carr Confoy Sportsground," Mr Taylor said.
“Getting Australia back on track includes creating safer communities and we know improving local amenities is a proven way to achieve social cohesion.
"By upscaling the infrastructure of local sporting clubs, we can increase participation, boost wellbeing, and ensure junior sport is nurtured and supported.
“Regional areas, such as Goulburn, deserve the same leisure and sporting infrastructure as their city counterparts and that’s why this investment is so important.”
