Extra Manly Ferry Services this Summer
Sydney is set for a sparkling summer on the Harbour with extra ferry services coming in from this week.
Minister for Transport, Veterans and Western Sydney David Elliott said an extra 70 ferry services would run weekly throughout the rest of December and all through January.
“The NSW Government has introduced an extra 70 ferry services a week so Sydneysiders and tourists can enjoy the glorious summer on our Harbour,” Mr Elliott said.
“Ferry patronage has rebounded strongly from COVID, returning to 98 per cent of pre-pandemic levels on weekends and 88 per cent of pre-pandemic levels on weekdays. This is the highest level since pre-pandemic times.
“So whether you enjoy a trip on our modern, fast and fuel-efficient Emeralds or prefer a nostalgic trip across the Harbour on the iconic Freshwater class we will have you covered.”
Member for Manly James Griffin said from tomorrow to 29 January 2023 the popular Freshwater ferry service would be ramped up and commuters, visitors, family and friends will be able to enjoy journeys between Manly and Circular Quay every hour, up from every two hours.
“This means a ferry service every 15 minutes for the popular Circular Quay to Manly route. So get on a ferry this summer and enjoy the spectacular sights, the warm weather and the beautiful destinations,” Mr Griffin said.
“The extra services will cater for what we know will be a bumper summer in Sydney and we know how popular ferries are in getting travellers from A to B.
“Sydney is also jam-packed with events over the next few months, with NYE festivities, ELEVATE and more. Sydney ferries will be busy so don’t forget to plan ahead.”
Since 2011, the NSW Government has delivered more than 1000 additional weekly ferry services.
