Meet Anthony
Legislative Assembly Trustee, Parliamentary Contributory Superannuation Fund, Member for Lane Cove
A Member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly, he has represented the Electorate of Lane Cove for the Liberal Party since 2003.
Educated at Saint Ignatius’ College, Riverview, Anthony attended the University of Technology, Sydney, where he studied business and served as President of the UTS Union. In 2010, he graduated with a Masters of Arts in Strategic Communications from Charles Sturt University.
In 1994 Anthony volunteered for military service, enlisting in the Australian Army Reserve and serving for nine years, retiring with the rank of Captain. During this period of service he was deployed to Bougainville as part of Operation Bel Isi, the Australian effort to monitor a ceasefire following years of civil unrest.
Elected to Lane Cove Council in 1995, Anthony served two terms as a Councillor, including two years as Mayor. Between 1996 and 2003, Anthony served as an advisor to Prime Minister John Howard.
In the NSW Parliament Anthony has served in several Shadow Portfolios, including Emergency Services, Juvenile Justice, Citizenship, Volunteering and the Arts.
Following the Coalition victory in the March 2011 election, Anthony was appointed Minister for Fair Trading in the O’Farrell Government, before being promoted to Minister for Resources and Energy, and Special Minister of State in December 2013.
On 23 April 2014 Premier Mike Baird promoted Anthony to the additional role of Leader of the House in the NSW Legislative Assembly, on top of his existing portfolios. As Leader of the House, Anthony is responsible for the Government’s legislative agenda.
Following the re-election of the Baird Government in March 2015, Anthony was promoted to Minister for Industry, Resources and Energy in the second Baird Cabinet.
