Ryde Mayor and former national disability advocacy manager, Cr Jordan Lane, has been pre-selected to continue Victor Dominello’s work for the Ryde Community.
Born and bred in the City of Ryde, Jordan has gone from Marist College Eastwood school captain to Ryde Mayor, inspired by his desire to serve the local community.
Well-known across the local community, Jordan has been actively involved in many local organisations, supporting our growing sporting clubs, working with Lions and Rotary groups and volunteering each year to clean up our environment with the local Scouts.
As a councillor and Mayor, Jordan has worked across all levels of government on behalf of local residents - from his campaign to save the iconic Macquarie Ice Rink, fighting against inappropriate overdevelopment, securing the $200m Macquarie Park bus interchange, or trying to protect the TG Millner playing fields from development, he has been a tireless advocate for the local community.
As Ryde Mayor, Jordan delivered a historic rate cut, while most other Councils have been raising their rates and wiped over $60m of debt built up by the previous Labor council.
“My focus has always been on what we can deliver for this community, so I am particular proud to have commenced long overdue planning reforms, and injected real transparency into how local ratepayer money is spent through an annual itemised rate receipt.”
“Having spent a lot of time focused on the needs of some of the most vulnerable people in our community as the HireUp disability support national advocacy manager, I have learned just how important it is for government to deliver quality services and empower individuals,” said Mayor Lane. “That’s why I am fighting for new schools and a redeveloped Ryde Hospital.”
“If elected, I will also continue to fight against inappropriate development in our part of Sydney, for more community amenities, green spaces for families and better local infrastructure.”
“Our community has been hit hard by the economic storms, from inflation and rate rises to jumps in costs of petrol and food. If elected, I will be a strong voice in Government for more support for local businesses and residents.”
“For the past decade we have been incredibly fortunate to have a representative of Victor Dominello’s calibre representing us. His outstanding work as the Member for Ryde has delivered a Sydney Metro, seven new or rebuilt schools, and a Service NSW for our community. I will seek to carry on his legacy by delivering more schools, more funding for Ryde Hospital and a solution to the traffic pinch-point on Victoria Road at West Ryde.
